Svitolina booked her place in the quarter-finals at Melbourne Park with a 6-4 6-1 win over Veronika Kudermetova on Monday.

The 30-year-old has now reached the last eight of the Australian Open on three occasions.

Svitolina has reached 12 grand slam quarter-finals. That is the most of any active player not to have won a major title.

Her best runs have been semi-final appearances at Wimbledon (2019, 2023) and the US Open (2019).

And while winning a grand slam remains the ultimate goal for Svitolina, she is not dwelling on the possibility.

"It is a great honour to be nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award again," the Indian defender stated in a Hockey India release.

"It's still very, very far from it," said Svitolina,ph143 games who will take on Madison Keys in the quarters.

"I don't like to speak about it too much because there's still many matches. Now is actually where the tournament starts.

"Everything starts now because now you have super tough matches, you're playing against top players, you're playing against the players who have been here for many times and know how to deal with pressure situations.

"I need to put my head down and put the work in. Of course, I believe that I can make it. For me it's always been an ultimate goal, to win a slam, but we are still very far from this."

Svitolina will be hoping to be joined in reaching the quarters by her husband Gael Monfils, who was taking on Ben Shelton in the last 16 of the men's singles on Tuesday.

Her tie with Keys sees the two players in this year's women's singles draw with over 100+ grand slam match wins to their name take each other on.
