Dube is expected to join the national squad before the third T20I in Rajkot on January 28, according to a PTI report.
The 31-year-old from Mumbai, who last represented the country during the series against Sri Lanka in July 2024, had a layoff due to back injury and recently made a comeback to domestic cricket after rehabilitation.
Dube did not find a place in the squad against England because of Reddy's strong recent performance Down Under, and despite bagging a "pair" (duck in both innings) against Jammu and Kashmir in his return first-class game, he had some silver lining in the form of the reported national call-up.
The explosive southpaw has so far played 33 T20Is in which he has scored 448 runs at a strike rate of nearly 135, and picked up 11 wickets with his military medium pace bowling.
Meanwhile, Rinku Singh will miss the second and third games due to a low back spasm while fielding in the 1st T20I. Ramandeep Singh has been included in the squad in his place.
